YELLOWHOUSE GAZETTE Building our Dreams – Slowly but Surely We’re getting there!! The house has been painted inside and out. The grounds are ALWAYS kept absolutely beautiful by our wonderful grounds keeper We’re scheduling more and more events in the amazing garden. We’re hearing from lots of people who have an interest in the Museum. How can we thank you enough? Here’s a thought…..how about a good, ole’ ice cream supper, in honor of our hard-working and very deserving fire-fighters? We’ve scheduled our first Museum-sponsored event, an ice cream making and pie baking contest for Saturday, September 9th, at the Museum. I’ve included a flyer with contest information, so get on the list as soon as you can. Prizes will be given to the creators of the most larapin’ bowl of ice cream, and the tastiest slice of pie. After the contest, we’ll sell the ice cream and pie ($1.00 a bowl or slice) to benefit the Museum. We’ll have entertainment to serenade us while we eat. Then we’ll honor the fire-fighters. Each fire-fighter, whether paid or volunteer, will be recognized individually. Most of you know their job is sometimes thankless, and they’ve had a busier than usual year. We need volunteers!!!! We have some door hanging, some furniture moving, some screen doors that stick, and reparation work that needs to be done. Anyone who’s got a little time and wouldn’t mind helping us out, please call me! We’re also looking for "permanent" volunteers, who have a few hours a week they could spend at the Museum, giving tours, being there while school classes learn, being in attendance for functions such as reunions, parties, ect. If you’re interested, and have a penchant for the history of our area, please contact me as soon as you can. We won’t have a lot going on for a little while, but as progress is made on the Museum, and as displays get set up, we hope to be opened regular hours, and will need volunteer staff occasionally if not often. We also need Christmas decorations. Not "throw-away", please. DON’T leave anything at the museum unless someone is there to accept it, please. Call if you have something. Be sure to spread the word among your family and friends that our beautiful garden is available for parties, reunions, special scheduled visits, and other functions. We do require a $200.00 deposit for damages, which will be refunded on inspection of the Museum and property, and a cleaning fee of $50.00, unless you clean up yourself, and leave everything as it was. Membership Drive: We need your support, and look forward to having you and your family and friends as members. Please fill out the form and return it as soon as you can. The next issued of "The Yellowhouse Gazette" will contain a list of new members, so make sure you’re name’s on there!! Thanks for your time. See you at the Museum……. Sheryl Jones |
